Branch 142 Really Rocks!

Recovery time takes a bit longer now for these old bones following a big event like the Good Friday Perch Dinner!  The weeks of planning and preparation takes its toll on everyone while trying to fit in meetings, Colour Party commitments, Spring Turkey Raffles and dances, so I guess we were all ready for a good feed of the famous little fish.  What a feed was had!  A record crowd was served within the first hour and a half, making it necessary to dash out to buy more Perch – how exciting is that?   Our thanks go out to all the volunteers that made it happen; the fryers were going full tilt which helped to keep the rest of the guys warm except for the frozen fingers of the boys doing the breading and preparing the take-outs.  You are all the heroes of the Ladies’ Auxiliary and we thank you for letting us have the sit-down jobs and for bringing your wives in to serve.   Those of you who were there may have noticed the entertainment section – four of our first year cadets who participated in the clean-up with more enthusiasm than one could ever hope for or remember having.  Our kudos to all!   Our next Perch Dinner will be held on Friday, May 3rd.

April promises to be a relatively quiet month for the branch but if that changes, you will see it here first.  Our Executive Meeting will be held as usual on the second Monday of April (8th) and the General Meeting on the third Monday, April 15th at 6:30 pm.  Please try to attend, there are many decisions to be made and your input is important.

The Wednesday afternoon sing-song is still going strong and we are expecting Doug Elliot with his banjo to be returning from Florida soon, so that will add to the fun.  The karaoke participants continue to rock every Friday night so tune up your vocal chords and polish up your dancing shoes.  Speaking of dancing, Ragg Topp is coming back to bring you more 50’s-60’s dancing music on Saturday, May 4th.  We had a sell-out crowd the last time so be sure to get your tickets in advance!
