05 June 2013 - Issue #25

It’s a good thing I have to sit down to write. I am nursing a few old muscles that haven’t been used for a while. Lawn bowling is well underway in spite of the cool weather and the Legion is looking for a few of their winter bowlers to pick up some lawn bowls and test their skills.  Come out and give it a try; you will be pleasantly surprised and enjoy the camaraderie and teamwork involved. Of course the laughs are a bonus!

The Colour Party was treated to a nice lunch by the Firemen after the Decoration Day ceremonies last Sunday, June 2nd and our “thanks” go out to those who worked so hard to put it together.  They are all getting ready for the big Mudcat Parade on Saturday.  Sandwiches are being prepared as we speak, for lunch at the Branch afterwards.

My next article will give me the chance to brag about another successful Perch Dinner which is our ‘signature Mudcat perch dinner’ and we are expecting record-breaking crowds.  The summer residents are back and we even have people from far off places such as British Columbia enquiring about the dates of our dinners to schedule their trip around.  How cool is that?  As it turns out, they will be coming for Legion Week in September.  In August, a group of about 150 – 200 cyclists have asked for a perch dinner.  So it looks like we are going to enjoy a really busy summer!  But right now, I am off to buy a coffee to send a kid to camp.
