Veterans’ Annual Golf Tournament is just around the
corner – Sunday, September 8th and promises to be
another ‘signature’ event of Branch 142. There
just happens to be a few holes open, so come in to the
Branch and get signed up. For only $65/pp, it will
be the usual Scramble format at Freedom Oaks, a steak
dinner back at the Branch with prizes to follow. The
course is in great shape again this year thanks to all the
summer rains not to mention the hard work of Randy and his
crew and naturally, will present the usual set of
challenges to most of us.
A great way to build up your
strength in readiness for the tournament is to increase
your protein intake. The best way I know to do
just that, is by eating lots of fish. Perch that is.
Our next Perch dinner is coming up on Friday, August 2nd.
The usual ˝ pound of Perch, fries, dinner roll, homemade
coleslaw, tea, coffee and dessert for only $15 per person.
Take-out is available at the back on Central Lane.
Make an evening out of it; enjoy dinner then go in to the
club room and be entertained by the Karaoke singers.
Feel free to join in.
You will notice the excavation in
progress at our corner with the re-vamping of our
Veterans’ Memorial. One more feather in the cap of
Garry Frost and the generous assistance of The Veterans’
Memorial Restoration Fund. I don’t believe that
any President has made the impact to the branch with his
accomplishments, improvements and the overall well-being
of its members as Garry has. The Legion is the
heartbeat of the community and a living memorial to our
veterans. Come in and be a part of it.
