Hasn’t this been a summer to remember?  Record breaking temperatures with the perfect amount of rainfall ensuring a perfect growing season and abundant crops.  The Legion was the coolest and most comfortable place in town during the heat-wave adding to the pleasure of our special events.  Our monthly Perch Dinners have been a huge success and I am writing this during the preparation of our August 2nd dinner.  Mike and Sue Gross under the direction of our Ladies’ Auxiliary President, Marj Craig are busy making their famous cole-slaw, Dave Roberts has the fryers ready to roll out to the back and by the time you read this, you will be fully satiated and ready for the next one on Friday, September 20th.

There is still a lot to come throughout the summer, Saturday, August 10th at 8:00 pm , come to enjoy “Neon Moon”. Get your dancing shoes ready and enjoy the oldies, old and new country and enjoy a light lunch for only $10 per person.  Tickets will be sold at the door.   The Ladies’ with the help of the Branch, will be serving the Waterfront Trail Cyclists their end of season celebration banquet on August 16th.  About 150 - 200 cyclists will be arriving in Dunnville to enjoy our beautiful town.  Their tour starts in Windsor on the 11th, reaching Dunnville on the 16th and then off to Fort Erie to complete their journey.

Saturday, August 17th is the 150 Club Dinner and to top off the month, Sunday, August 25th is the Legion Members’ Picnic at the Edie Campground on the river.  It’s always great fun, lots of good food and games for the kids young or old.

Get signed up for the Annual Veterans’ Golf Tournament on Sunday, September 8th at Freedom Oaks Golf Course with steak dinner and prizes back at the Legion.

In closing, remember: this is your day of opportunity.  Do not waste it.
