August 17th is the 150 Club Dinner open to all members of
the ‘club’. Guests are welcome for $10 per
person and dinner will be served at 6:30 pm in the
upstairs banquet hall. Please be sure to call the
branch at 905-774-5942 or drop in to sign up and reserve a
seat. The cook likes to know how many to prepare for
and we can’t have anyone going home hungry!
Everything is about
food these days it seems. Is it my age, survival
instincts kicking in, fattening up for a harsh winter?
Our Perch dinner was another success and we have the
members’ picnic coming up on Sunday, August 25th always
fun with lots of good food – hamburgers, local corn (to
die for) with games for the kids, young or old and the
usual congenial conversation. Why not bring along a
fishing pole? It’s at the Edie Campground on the river.
Come by boat if you like, or coming from town, cross the
bridge and continue on Regional Rd. 3 and turn right onto
Reg. Rd. 20 past the Byng Conservation Area to Aikens
Road, turn right and continue straight on through
(ignoring the left hand turn at River Rd.) and carry on
around the bend, past the Anger cemetery and just past
Dick’s greenhouses on the right, you will come to Edies
on the left. You can’t miss it!
The next BIG
thing on the agenda is the Veterans’ Golf Tournament.
Some holes are still open and it is only $65 per person
for a great day of 18 hole Scramble with a cook-your-own
steak dinner afterwards at the Branch, followed by prizes
and a multitude of ‘coulda-shoulda’ stories.
I guarantee you will have fun and a good chance of
winning. In the meantime, keep your head down and
