at this writing, the kids’ skate-park has not yet
reached fruition and we have found it necessary to fence
off our newly reconstructed Veterans’ Memorial due to
the disrespect of a few of our local youth who are
choosing to misuse the new marble cross as a bike ramp and
late night performance venue.
This is your Legion – a living memorial within
itself, containing a place of solemn dignity where we can
quietly give thanks and preserve the memory of the heroes,
many of whom would be your grandfathers and great
grandfathers, who gave us the freedom that we enjoy today.
It seems that every year I have to write an article
reminding people that this is NOT an area designated for
your dog’s relief; hence the removal of the grass.
Letters being taken from our events notice board.
The theft of ‘no smoking’ signs posted on our
patience shown by our President Garry Frost has been
admirable and realizes that the Legion is not alone with
many of these concerns; however, the blatant disrespect
that is being displayed regarding our Veterans’ Memorial
has tipped the scale. Don’t
forget, our premises are ‘monitored’ so all the Evel
Knievel daredevils and bungling burglars out there, please
remember to smile – you’re on camera!
Legion Week was another great
success and there was a good turnout of Veterans at their
annual Legion Week Dinner where they were served a
melt-in-your-mouth roast beef dinner by the new Ladies’
Auxiliary Kitchen Convener, Darlene Maciewicz and her
Night was fun as usual featuring Dave Burden and the week
was topped off with another of our great Perch Dinners.
I hope you were able to participate in all the
events and don’t forget to get your tickets for the Neil
Diamond Tribute this Saturday, the 28th.
Our Fall Turkey Raffle is coming up on Friday,
October 4th. It’s
always a nice way to kick-off the fall season, so come on
in. The Perch Dinner
in October, will be held on Friday, October 25th.
