Legion News   (from the Free Press newspaper)

Season’s Greetings from the Dunnville Legion. What a wonderful year we had.  With the support of the community and a $20,000 donation from our Ladies’ Auxiliary, as well as receiving a $10,000 donation from The Mayor’s Gala for future improvements, we were able to make a $15,000 donation to the Dunnville War Memorial Hospital for their E.R. expansion as well as $2,000 to Seniors’ Support for their Meals-on-Wheels program. As mentors to the 611 Harvard Squadron Air Cadets, we gave them $2,070 towards their contribution to the Tony Stacey Veterans’ Hospital.  We make regular donations to the North Wall Riders who are doing wonderful work assisting our Veterans in their ‘Broken Wing’ project.  We also contributed to the Memorial Cairn at Port Maitland.

Branch 142 also sponsors a local soccer team, youth baseball and of course, the Jr. Mudcat Hockey Club.  Our Perch Dinners have been a great success and the first one of 2016 will be held on Good Friday – something to look forward to over the winter.   Our membership continues to grow and has doubled over the past 7 years and are proud to say, the largest legion in our zone.  The Ladies’ have delivered their Christmas poinsettias to our shut-ins at Edgewater, Grandview and Angelica nursing homes and Santa has made his first of many visits to deliver gifts to the residents.

Come in and enjoy the Holidays and ring in 2016 at our New Year’s Eve Party.  Peace and prosperity to all from the members of Branch 142.
